Repair and Service Fujitsu Split System Air Conditioner
The Swansea Project: We were contacted by the client and informed that their split system air conditioning system in the kitchen had broken down and was not working. The unit was manufactured by Fujitsu and was 15 years old. Their aircon unit required repairs and servicing.

The Solution
Once we arrived at the property we inspected both the indoor and outdoor air conditioning units. We were told that this Fujitsu model had been running for years without any issues.
Upon inspecting the outdoor unit it was clear that the compressor unit had failed and burnt out due to overheating. This was caused by corrosion and loss of lubrication to the compressor parts.
Repairing the air conditioner compressor
We isolated the electricity from the aircon unit. We then removed the cover to the compressor. We then removed the compressor and replaced it with a brand new compressor.
Cleaning the air conditioning unit
Preventative maintenance is one way to ensure your air conditioner lasts longer and has fewer breakdowns. After we got the A/C to work we cleaned both the indoor and outdoor units. The indoor unit was in the kitchen area. We removed and cleaned the filters and wiped away all the dust and debris that had built up.
Using nitrogen we flushed out all the pipes of air blockages and contaminants that had gathered.
What causes an air conditioner compressor to burnout?
An air conditioner compressor can burn out due to several reasons, including:
Electrical Issues: Faulty wiring, power surges, or issues with the capacitor can cause the compressor to overheat or fail.
Refrigerant Problems: Low refrigerant levels due to leaks or improper charging can cause the compressor to work harder, leading to overheating and burnout.
Overheating: Inadequate airflow, such as blocked or dirty condenser coils, can cause the compressor to overheat and fail.
Mechanical Failures: Worn-out bearings, a seized motor, or other mechanical failures can lead to excessive strain on the compressor, resulting in burnout.
Oil Depletion: Compressors rely on oil for lubrication. If the oil level is too low or if the oil is contaminated, it can cause excessive wear and lead to failure.
Inconsistent Maintenance: Lack of regular maintenance, such as not cleaning or replacing air filters, can lead to problems that stress the compressor.
Improper Installation: Incorrect installation of the compressor or other system components can lead to operational issues that might cause burnout.
Age and Wear: Over time, components naturally wear out. An older compressor might be more susceptible to failure due to wear and tear.
Regular maintenance and timely repairs can help prevent these issues and prolong the life of your compressor.
